synopsis
Noga and Doug are two young people from the outskirts of Fortaleza, who grew up together, loyal to each other. Their destiny is put to the test, after drug dealer Dimas makes a decision that could seal their friendship.
Director Statement:
The main idea of the director, Nick Sanches, was to portray the outskirts of Fortaleza, his hometown and where he still lives today. The film was entirely recorded in that location. The production won notable awards, including the award for Black Representation in Cinema at the International Festival and Best Film by the Popular Jury at FECEA, and at the OFF Contemporary Cinema Festival, where it also received three awards, including Best Film.

Nick Sanches is a Cinema and Audiovisual student at UFC (Federal University of Ceará). Born and raised on the outskirts of Fortaleza, his research focus is on black and peripheral cinema. He has worked on other short films as a screenwriter and assistant director, but he made his first directing debut on the short film "Um Maço de Firmeza", which was featured in several exhibitions and festivals such as: V Mostra Quilombo de Cinema Negro e Indígena and IX Alvorada International Festival. Scheduled to premiere in 2024, "Sirius is not that far away" is his second short film in which he was also a screenwriter. As a screenwriter, he is part of Lab Cena 15 at Porto Iracema das Artes.
